I’ve always thought that talent agents were wound up a little too tight, but this story about the death of a UCLA professor at the home of WME VP Skip Chasey really highlights the lengths some people go to blow off steam.

You’d be forgiven if you missed this item from The Hollywood Reporter Friday, a tragic story that led to the accidental death of Doran George (pictured left above), a 47-year-old Ph.D. in performance studies that taught at UCLA. According to THR, George died in a sexual ritual gone wrong, dead after being mummified in plastic wrap in Chasey’s basement sex dungeon.

Chasey did not face any criminal charges for George’s death, which was ruled an accident, and still has his job at WME. He has led a fairly open double life as an expert on BDSM who has stared in documentaries like Pup and even given acclaimed speeches under his pseudonym Master Skip.

Chasey and George had known each other for seven months when the two embarked on an elaborate bondage ritual. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chasey outfitted George in a “locked metal chain around his neck and a penile chastity gauge,” and then proceeded to mummify George “from head to toe by plastic wrap and gaffers tape with small breathing holes at the mouth and nose.”

About two-and-a-half hours into the ritual, Chasey noticed that George was not breathing, cut away the tape and called 911. Approximately 15 after paramedics arrived, George was a pronounced dead.

A lengthy investigation ensued and Chasey hid the incident from WME until recently when it was revealed on a podcast called the Grey Zone. According to statements from WME, Chasey will likely keep his job.
