As lawmakers look at prison reform, one area rife for change is telecommunications. A small number of companies make big bucks charging incarcerated men and women with exorbitant fees for phone calls and email. Now a number of startups, led by former felons, are disrupting the monopoly with news apps that allow family on the outside to snap pictures on their phone and have them to delivered to locked up friends and relatives, either digitally or through the mail.
