Mahoning Drive-In near Lehighton, Pennsylvania has beaten the odds for decades, but a plan to convert all Hollywood films to digital production standards might be the undoing of the 70-year-old drive in that still uses a 35mm projector from 1948 to screen films. A new documentary from director Alexander Monelli documents the community’s efforts to save the drive-in with employees offering to work at the venue for free to keep it open and protect the beloved analog film format from being overtaken by sterile digital projection.
