Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment has selected AEG Facilities to manage and operate the new Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, slated to open in March.
Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment will continue to provide programming, marketing and sales for the facility, while AEG Facilities General Manager Matt Felker handles venue operations at the renovated building. Felker had been the assistant GM at the Barclays Center, and will now transition to Long Island where he currently lives. Felker will report to Barclays Center GM Steve Rosebrook “whose role is expanding to become AEG Facilities Regional General Manager, supervising operations for Barclays Center and Nassau Coliseum,” according to a release from the company. AEG Facilities has provided management services to Barclays Center since it first opened in 2012.
Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment also announced the appointment of Rosemarie Milano as AEG Facilities Vice President of Human Resources for both buildings. Milano had previously served as Senior Director of Human Resources at Barclays Center for more than three years. Nick Vaerewyck has joined Nassau Coliseum’s management staff as Senior Director of Programming. He previously worked at Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix as its Director of Event Booking.
Finally, Matthew Ackermann has been hired to handle the day-to-day marketing at Nassau Coliseum. Ackermann was Director of Marketing for Athletics at the University of San Francisco.
“We are excited to bring together an outstanding and experienced team to deliver a premier sports and entertainment venue for Long Island,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment in a press release. “Our infusion of proven talent from around the country, including Long Island’s Matt Felker, further builds the foundation for what will be a world-class destination that Long Islanders deserve. As the venue’s spring opening draws closer we look forward to continuing to add the best in the industry to our staff.”
