This year, the Fox Theatre in Atlanta unveiled its $10 million expansion that created its new premium space, the Marquee Club by Lexus. The expansion is the largest revitalization effort of the Fox Theatre since its opening in 1929.
“We recognize that even though we are a historic property, we have to give our guests and our artists what they need and what they require,” Allan Vella, President and CEO of the Fox Theatre told Amplify. “Atlanta is a very vibrant market with many brand-new facilities and facilities being renovated and, in a sense, we have to keep up with the Jones.”
The Marquee Club took over previously leased out retail space to create a 10,000 square foot event space with enhanced food and beverage at five stationary bars. The club multi-level interior and climate-controlled rooftop terrace overlooking Atlanta’s famed Peachtree Street, offering public access to the Fox Theatre’s roof for the first time in nearly 50 years.
The expansion “allowed us to revisit a rooftop terrace that was original to the theater back in 1929. We reimagined it and expanded it,” said Vella. “We built an exciting new space that is incredibly enjoyable to experience prior to the show, during the intermission, and post show.”
Members will have year-round access to the Marquee Club that was most recently a restaurant and jazz club. Members also will receive a number of club access passes for ticketed guests, as well as an allowance for membership transfers.
Individual, Corporate and Broadway Across America membership tiers are available along with a limited number of single day offers per show. Marquee Club access passes are limited and may be purchased on a first come, first serve basis on designated shows via the Fox Theatre website.
“The club is a fabulous place that we’re able to maintain the historic fabric of the perimeter walls but basically we built a building within a building. It was like building a ship in a bottle,” Vella said.
He added, “We feel that we have a superior product in the market place that rivals anything you would see at Mercedes Stadium or Suntrust Park or anywhere else in the country.”
Guests may enter the club before and after events, as well as during intermission. Additional amenities include priority pre-sale ticketing notifications, private restrooms, dedicated lobby elevator, concierge guest services and for select memberships, self-parking access to an adjacent lot. At intermission, guests will have access to pre-ordered drinks, dessert and coffee.
