On Oct. 16, the Promoter 101 podcast will be doing a live taping at International Entertainment Buyers Association in Nashville. The event will be held on the second day of the three-day conference that runs from Oct. 15-17.

The podcast, created by Emporium Presents’ Dan Steinberg, will feature co-host Luke Pierce and a special conversation with President, North America Concerts, Regions West for Live Nation Bob Roux at the conference.

“We’ve never done IEBA. We’ve never done Nashville live before,” Steinberg told Amplify. “This is exciting because it is a different room for us. It is a room that I have respect for, because these are the people who run festivals and fairs and arenas and book tours. These are serious people and they’ve opened their rooms and conference to us with open arms. I take that seriously.”

The 2017 edition of IEBA will feature notable speakers including a keynote Q&A with Ice-T and a keynote Q&A with WME’s Marc Geiger. The panels will feature industry titans from CAA, Goldenvoice, Frank Productions, AEG Presents and Paradigm Talent Agency.

The entertaining and insightful Promoter 101 live taping with Roux will be held at 11:30 a.m.

“We’re stoked on Roux. He’s a legend and he’s been a friend for a really long time. The focus will just be on him,” Steinberg said. “He’s one of those guys that you could listen to talk for hours on end. He has such great knowledge of the business and he is so personable and entertaining. You could very easily see him making his living on the other side of the stage.”

Steinberg said he plans to touch on the topics of Live Nation’s expansive touring business, Roux’s responsibility for 120 tours, and personally overseeing artists like Metallica and the late Tom Petty. They are also going to discuss Ticketmaster Platinum, Verified Fan, and security in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting at Route 91 festival.

“Bob is so enthralling,” Steinberg added. “You get a lot of people up there who may know everything about the business, but they don’t want to share it. Bob is not that guy. You ask him a question and he is going to give you an honest answer.”

The podcast will take on its typical format, discussing the industry news and comment on the happenings at IEBA. Steinberg explained that the rest of the episode will be Roux-centric with an extended interview for the music business giant.

The conference will take place at the Omni Nashville Hotel, where the podcast taping will be recorded, and additional special events will be held at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. IEBA will be hosting showcase performances performances from Randy Houser, Ben Rector, Elle King, JOHNNYSWIM, Lindsay Ell, John Oates, Frankie Ballard, Charles Esten, and many more.
