Billboard is releasing its Power 100 rankings next week, but we’ve learned that one of the big indie players in the music game is making some power moves of his own.
Amplify has learned that Brooklyn Bowl owner and Lock’n Fest Founder Peter Shapiro is preparing to expand to Nashville and Philadelphia with two new Brooklyn Bowl projects he’s developing as part of a joint venture with Live Nation. The 1,000-cap, 40,000-sq.-ft. clubs with live music, high-end food and bowling is generating significant interest with developers looking for the next generation of venues.
We’ve also learned that Shapiro is working to open a “Garcia’s” seated jazz and jam venue in the heart of the West Loop in Chicago, developed in partnership with the estate of Jerry Garcia. And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve learned this ultimate insider and jam scene icon has secured a hold at Madison Square Garden on March 15, 2020 for Phil Lesh’s 80th birthday.
Think you’re going to challenge that date? Not a chance…while you’re at home playing tic tac toe, Shapiro is playing two games of three-dimensional chess against a super computer and establishing himself as indie music’s next power player.
