On Nov. 1, Planet 13 will open the doors to its cannabis superstore off the Strip in Las Vegas. The 40,000 sq. ft. space marks the first phase of the company’s first-of-its-kind cannabis complex.

Located across from The Wynn Las Vegas just off the gaming corridor, the Planet 13 Superstore will be an interactive entertainment experience in addition to being a massive dispensary.

“We will be the largest dispensary in the world. Our whole concept and what we are trying to do is unique. Nobody’s done it,” David Farris, Director of Marketing for Planet 13, told Amplify. “We’ve spent over a million dollars on special effects and entertainment. We are very determined to create this experience.”

While only those who are 21 years of age or older will be allowed on the dispensary floor, the rest of the growing complex will be accessible to cannabis aficionados and the general public. Opening in November, tourists and locals alike will be able to visit the flashy complex outfitted with a huge interactive LED floor, laser graffiti walls and giant electric interactive lotus flowers on the roof that can be seen from roughly 65,000 hotel rooms.

“We are going to be more than a dispensary. We want to out-Vegas Vegas,” Farris said. “We want to redefine the experience for someone who is looking to purchase cannabis or experience an attraction in Las Vegas.”

Directly outside of the Superstore will be a giant water feature and inside visitors will be greeted with an aerial orb show while they shop and look around. The Planet 13 Superstore will also be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Planet 13 feels particularly well-placed to establish a cannabis complex off the Strip since it already boasts an award-winning dispensary in Las Vegas that see over 700 visitors a day. Just steps away from the main drag, Farris anticipates at least 2,000 visitors a day for the superstore. Planet 13 Holdings holds two licenses for sales, one for recreational sale under Planet 13 and one for medical sales under the brand Medizin.

“We’ve had great customer service and retention at our current store and we are really building on that and adding something special,” Farris said.

Planet 13 has several strains that have won awards at Amsterdam’s International Cannagraphic Mag 420 Cup. The brand offers oils and extracts for the company’s own product lines, as well as edibles and branded vapes.

Nevada passed the Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act in November of 2016, making it legal for adults 21 and over to purchase cannabis and grow it at home.

The following phases for the cannabis complex will include adding retail and other entities to the 112,000 sq. ft. building. Farris explained that Planet 13 has plans to open a coffee shop and has been fielding offers for retailers throughout the developing space.
