AEG & BSE NAME NEW GMS FOR BARCLAYS & NYCB LIVE

Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and AEG Facilities have named two new General Managers for New York’s Barclays Center and NYCB Live, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Matthew Felker, who currently serves as General Manager of NYCB LIVE, will lead operations for Barclays Center as General Manager. In the transition from his current role as Assistant General Manager to General Manager, Joe Zino will become the head of operations for NYCB LIVE. Both promotions take effect Oct. 1. The GM announcements come on the heels of the upcoming departure of Regional General Manager Steve Rosebrook, who will be overseeing the transition for AEG Facilities.

ARETHA FRANKLIN IS REPORTEDLY ‘SERIOUSLY ILL’

A source close to the singer has informed the Associated Press that Aretha Franklin is “seriously ill.” The source, who is not allowed to speak publicly, could not disclose any further details on the situation. The Queen of Soul was forced to cancel concert dates earlier this year on doctor’s orders. The 76-year-old icon announced her retirement last year, stating that she would make occasional live performances. Her last appearance was at the Elton John AIDS Foundation fundraiser in November.


AEG SIGNS RETAIL DEAL WITH RANK + RALLY

AEG has signed a deal with Rank + Rally to take over the company’s online and brick and mortar retail operations. Rank + Rally will operate all retail spaces at AEG venues, in addition to managing e-commerce for the facilities and their home teams. Through this partnership, Rank + Rally will serve as the exclusive in-venue retailer for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Sparks, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Chargers, LA Galaxy, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Minnesota Lynx. This list grows the roster of Rank + Rally’s numerous current partnerships, including the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Vegas Golden Knights, Golden State Warriors, St. Louis Blues, Columbus Crew SC, Portland Trail Blazers, and several others.
