CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK TO HONOR GORD DOWNIE, LIVE NATION EXEC

The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie, who died Oct. 17, 2017 at age 53, will be honored posthumously with the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award at the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards on May 9. The Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards, part of Canadian Music Week, also will welcome several inductees into its hall of fame including Michael McCarty of Canadian performing rights organization SOCAN and Steve Herman of Live Nation. Herman previously was North American CEO of The Agency Group, which United Talent Agency acquired in 2015, and also was founding president of Clear Channel Canada. McCarty is chief membership and business development officer at SOCAN and former president of EMI Music Publishing Canada.


SMOKEY ROBINSON ADDS WYNN DATES AFTER SOLD-OUT DEBUT

AEG Presents and the Wynn Las Vegas have announced additional headline dates for Smokey Robinson at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas. The music icon will return for a three night engagement in September following his sold-out debut at the theater in February. In this 90-minute production, fans can enjoy  hits from Robinson’s four decades worth of hits. The Motown star will return to Vegas on Sept. 18, 20 & 21 with tickets going on sale (May 3) at 10am PDT at WynnLasVegas.com.


OZZY ANNOUNCES RESCHEDULED DATES FOR FAREWELL TOUR

Ozzy Osbourne has announced rescheduled UK & European dates for this No More Tours 2 tour. The six-week trek kicks off in Ozzy’s native UK on Jan. 31 before wrapping March 16 in Zurich, Switzerland. The tour includes stops throughout the UK–Nottingham, Dublin, Manchester, Newcastle, London (O2 Arena), Glasgow and Ozzy’s Birmingham hometown–before heading to Europe for gigs in Germany, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and Switzerland. Dates were originally postponed due to Osbourne facing health issues. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Europe for these shows. Thank you to all the fans for sticking with me and waiting for the new dates to be announced. I can’t wait to see you all next year,” said Osbourne in a release. Check out the dates here.
