GREENSBORO & LIVE NATION OPENING NEW PIEDMONT HALL

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex and Live Nation have announced a partnership for North Carolina’s newest multipurpose live entertainment venue, Piedmont Hall. Opening in September, the 20,000-square-foot-venue is the result of a $4 million renovation of a portion of the former Canada Dry bottling plant at the southern end of the Coliseum Complex campus. Piedmont Hall will open Friday, Sept. 6 with Aaron Lewis in concert. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 3.


SEATGEEK HIRES FORMER TUMBLR AND NYT EXEC BRIAN MURPHY

Mobile ticketing platform SeatGeek announced the hiring of Brian Murphy as chief technology officer. He will lead the company’s domestic and international engineering teams, and oversee the development of product and technology across its primary ticketing partners, from the Dallas Cowboys and Manchester City Football Club to London’s L.W. Theatres. Murphy joins SeatGeek from Tumblr, where he led multiple engineering teams as CTO. Before that, he was vp of engineering at the New York Times, and senior director of technology at Condé Nast.


PAULA ABDUL TO LAUNCH LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY IN AUGUST

Tonight, she will close out the Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand with a six-minute singing and dancing spectacle but this summer Paula Abdul will spread that magic across the street to the stage of Flamingo Las Vegas for a new residency, Paula Abdul: Forever Your Girl. Beginning on Aug. 13, the first leg features 20 dates and runs until Jan. 4.
