SPRINGBOARD MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES MEMPHIS EVENT

Springboard Music Festivals, dubbed the “music discovery festival”, announces its third location and debut in Memphis, Tenn., May 31 – June 2. For three days, emerging artists from all over the world, industry professionals and locals will gather at the Visible Music College to celebrate the future of music. The conference and festival begins on May 31 with a two-day “Band Bootcamp” where 50 bands and solo artists cherry picked from the over 3,000 submissions will attend workshops, panels and pitch sessions with veterans and professionals in the music industry. This year’s mentors include Founder of Music World Entertainment and Beyoncé’s father  Mathew Knowles, Guns N’ Roses’ first manager, Vicky Hamilton, and more.

JASON PEDONE NAMED SMG’S NE REGIONAL BOOKING DIRECTOR

SMG has announced that Jason Pedone has been named Northeast regional booking director. Pedone has been the general manager of Virginia’s largest arena, John Paul Jones Arena, since 2010 and will now oversee the booking for the Northeast and Canada. Prior to working at John Paul Jones Arena, Pedone was the director of event services and event services manager at the SMG-managed NRG Stadium in Houston. Pedone has also served as the events manager at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.


LIVE NATION REPORTS $1.7 BILLION IN REVENUE FOR Q1

Live Nation is already projecting double-digit operating income and adjusted operating income growth for 2019, based on the company’s first quarter earnings for the year where revenue jumped 17% to $1.7 billion compared to the same period last year. Despite a $24 million operating income loss, the touring industry giant believes it is off to a good start in 2019 with its AOI for the months of January through March hitting a high of $115 million. In the first quarter of 2019, Live Nation reported 15 million fans attended its concerts — an increase of 22% year-over-year. Within the concerts division, revenue is up 27% and through mid-April the company has already sold 49 million tickets for concerts occurring this year.
