STEVIE WONDER HONORED AT RACE MATTERS CONFERENCE

Legendary musician and activist Stevie Wonder was honored at this year’s National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). Wonder was the recipient of Champion of Justice Award last Thursday (Jan. 10) at NACDL’s Race Matters II: The Impact of Race on Criminal Justice conference at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, in Los Angeles. “Stevie Wonder has a long history of civic and humanitarian engagement, contributions, and leadership, including his work that helped make Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday a national holiday, as well as his use of his extraordinary musical talent and popularity to raise funds for humanitarian aid for Africa as well as for AIDS-related charities,” said NACDL president Drew Findling in a release.


BILLBOARD’S LEILA COBO TO BE HONORED AT MARTELL IN MIAMI DINNER

The T.J. Martell Foundation for Cancer Research has announced plans to honor Billboard‘s Leila Cobo and Warner Music’s Iñigo Zabala at this year’s annual Martell in Miami Dinner to be held Feb. 20. Cobo, who is Billboard‘s vice president, Latin industry lead, will receive the Music Industry Trailblazer Award. Zabala, president of Warner Music Latin America & Iberia, will be honored with the Estefan Lifetime Achievement Award. There will also be a performance by Celia Cruz All Stars.


AXS INTEGRATES PAYPAL INTO DIGITAL PAYMENTS

Ticketing platform AXS has integrated PayPal into its digital platform. Customers can now checkout on the AXS app using PayPal and those who sell tickets on AXS’s secondary Marketplace will be reimbursed via their PayPal accounts. In the U.S., customers can also use PayPal’s Venmo to easily split payments and share their live event experiences.”Fans expect a familiar and secure payment experience to make purchasing tickets to a live event even easier, and integration with PayPal was the obvious choice for us,” said Ashish Kapur, svp of marketing and digital media at AXS in a release.
