TAYLOR SWIFT WINS BIG AT AMAS, INCLUDING TOUR OF THE YEAR
Taylor Swift took home the Tour of the Year award last night at the American Music Awards for her Reputation Stadium tour, which is on track to be the highest grossing North American tour of 2018, according to Billboard Boxscore. In her acceptance speech, Swift thanked her 300 person production crew and her fans, which helped her break her own record for highest grossing tour by a female. She also took home awards for Pop/Rock Album, Pop/Rock Artist and the AMA’s top honor Artist of the Year, breaking Whitney Houston’s record for most career AMA wins.
SHARI RICE IS THE LATEST LONG-TIME EMPLOYEE TO EXIT POLLSTAR
Shari Rice is leaving Pollstar, exiting the company at the end of the month, Amplify has learned. The VP of operations has worked at Pollstar for 29 years and had served as managing editor and directories editor in the 90s. Her exit follows news of Venues Today’s founder Linda Deckard also leaving her post. Since purchasing Pollstar last year, Oak View Group has laid off a large portion of the staff and closed the company’s Fresno headquarters.
AEG SIGNS ENTERTAINMENT AGREEMENT WITH STANLEY HOTEL
The Historic Stanley Hotel and AEG Presents Rocky Mountains have signed a partnership agreement that will result in 60 nights of entertainment at the historic Estes Park hotel. Under the new arrangement, the entertainment line-up at the hotel will expand to an anticipated 60 nights a year that will include new artists and events. The Stanley has been and will continue to promote its own lineup of concerts and horror film events. “We’re thrilled to add The Stanley to our venue portfolio. Booking the hotel that inspired The Shining creates endless creative opportunities for artists and fans,” said Chuck Morris, CEO of AEG in a statement. “We’re already getting a ton of interest.”
